Mindfulness Each Day

Mindful Living

Each morning as we wake, we are given the gift of another day. But, as the days roll along, routine sets in and we can feel on autopilot as we move through life. So how do we make the most of each day, and focus on the moment and truly enjoy what life brings our way?

For starters, be aware of the people in your life that help make life happen. The cheerful barista when you grab your morning coffee. The person bagging your groceries. The crew zipping through your neighborhood collecting your garbage. Being mindful of the goodness of these people makes life sweeter. It brings us to the moment it allows for us to be grateful.

If you are in an active parenting role, it’s possible to be mindful when reacting to stress.  Take three deep breaths before responding and accept that no child is perfect.

Many of us eat in a hurry. Did you know you consume 12% more calories when you don’t engage in mindful eating. Make time to eat, savor each bite and be mindful of the food that is nourishing your body.

When we combine mindfulness with exercise, the benefits improve your immune system, lower blood pressure, decrease anxiety, improve focus and concentration. Notice the strength of your legs, the flow of your arms, your breath, your heart, each brings us to the present moment.

Spending time in nature allows for the ultimate mindfulness experience.  Go for a walk, enjoy the birds singing, watch the water flow in a stream notice the sky and study the clouds.

By learning to live in the moment and focusing on the now, being more mindful, can help you attain a greater sense of happiness, health and fulfillment.
